    Side effects

    Common side effects

    • Skin rash
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Vulvovaginal candidiasis
    • Exfoliative dermatitis
    • Pruritus of skin
    • Urticaria
    • Abdominal pain with cramps
    • Anaphylaxis

    If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly

    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea

    Tell your doctor right away if any of these rare but serious side effects occur

    • Dark urine
    • Persistent nausea or vomiting
    • Stomach/abdominal pain
    • Yellowing eyes or skin
    • Easy bruising or bleeding
    • Persistent sore throat or fever

    This medication may rarely cause a severe intestinal condition due to a type of resistant bacteria. This condition may occur during treatment or weeks to months after treatment has stopped. Do not use anti-diarrhea or opioid medications if you have the following symptoms because these products may make them worse. Tell your doctor right away if you develop

    • Persistent diarrhea
    • Abdominal or stomach pain/cramping
    • Blood/mucus in your stool

    A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including

    • Rash
    • Itching/swelling
    • Severe dizziness
    • Trouble breathing

    Other things to note

    • This medicine may cause temporary staining of the teeth. Proper brushing will usually remove any stains and prevent them from occurring.
    • Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in oral thrush or a new vaginal yeast infection . Contact your doctor if you notice white patches in your mouth, a change in vaginal discharge or other new symptoms.
    • Amoxicillin can commonly cause a mild rash that is usually not serious. However, you may not be able to tell it apart from a rare rash that could be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. Therefore, get medical help right away if you develop any rash.

    Amoxicillin - Precautions

    • Do not take if you are allergic to penicillin
    • Tell doctor what medicines you are taking
    • Must use for full length of treatment
    • Space doses evenly throughout the day
    • Call DR if rash or severe diarrhea occur.
    • Watch for oral thrush or vaginal yeast infections.
    • For capsule products : Tell doctor your complete medical history.
    • For suspension, reconstituted, oral products : Shake well before using. Discard unused portion after 14 days.
    • For tablet, chewable products : Do not take & tell Dr. if you have phenylketonuria. Chew medicine completely before swallowing.
    • For tablet, extended release multiphase 24 hr products : Swallow whole tablet. Do not break, chew or crush. Take at the same time daily with a meal.

    • For capsule products : This medicine may be taken with or without food. May cause diarrhea during treatment. If it persists or becomes severe, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Persistent diarrhea due to colitis may rarely occur weeks or months after using antibiotics. If this occurs, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
    • For suspension, reconstituted, oral products : Shake well before using. Refrigeration preferred but not required.
    • For tablet, chewable products : Chew this medication before swallowing.
    • For tablet, extended release multiphase 24 hr products : Take with food. Swallow whole. Do not chew or crush.
